Canon's CMOS sensor uses the same sensor technology used on EOS cameras. The CMOS sensor has raised the sensitivity of the light receiving area to catch 1.44 times more light than other conventional sensors.
ISO can be increased up to ISO 6400 and although it is used at high ISO, the PowerShot S100 is equipped with the DIGIC image processor 5 is capable of capturing images with low noise.
